About Alphametrics
In a rapidly-changing world, information
is vital. But what really counts is understanding what is happening,
not just locally or even nationally but globally, to be able to assess
developments, evaluate their repercussions and come up with an effective
response. The key is to assemble the right information at the right
time and to interpret it correctly.
Our University origins
Founded in 1983 at the start of the PC revolution by professional
economists from Cambridge University, Alphametrics provides a powerful
blend of experience, IT expertise, understanding and an international
perspective to aid and inform decision-making in both the public and
private sectors.
Computer know-how allied to analytical expertise
Over the years, Alphametrics has carried out research studies on a
wide range of strategic issues across Europe, from the effects of
structural change and problems of regional economies to labour market
developments and innovations in education and training. We have produced
numerous prestigious reports for the European Commission and constructed
a number of database systems for managing information efficiently.
In the process, we have built up an unparalleled knowledge of the
data available for analysing economic, social and demographic issues
and a detailed understanding of strategic concerns. And we have assembled
a network of experts in EU Member States and other parts of Europe
whom we can call on for assistance, to provide both a local and international
perspective on developments.
The intelligent application of data
The hallmark of an Alphametrics piece of work is the effective organisation
and analysis of information, allied with an informative presentation
of the results and a lucid account of the implications. This is complemented
by the know-how to exploit the full potential of computer technology
and to harness the power of the internet to provide ready access to
data and the ability to analyse issues more quickly and intelligently.
Where we are
Alphametrics is based in Royston, near Cambridge, and we work closely
with our sister company, Applica, located in Brussels to provide on-the-spot
support to the European institutions.
